Graduate Studies Program

Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste (CIBNOR) has the
primary objective of developing human resources in sustainable management
of natural resources by providing an excellent academic education to fit
activities that contribute to national development. The CIBNOR Graduate
Study Program started formal operations in 1994, offering doctoral
studies, and by 1998, once expectations were met, offers master studies.
Both programs are registered in CONACYT's Programa Nacional de Posgrados
de Calidad [CONACYT National Program of Quality Graduate Studies], which
provides financial support for candidates that meet the graduate profile
and requirements.
The Master of Science and Doctor of Science Programs in Use, Management,
and Conservation of Natural Resources offer academic education in Aquaculture, Sustainable Agriculture, Marine Biology, Biotechnology, or Dry-land Ecology. Its objectives focus on strengthening the basis of
institutional research and maximizing the capacity of CIBNOR in
developing high- quality human resources with expertise in natural
resource management to promote regional development in our research areas
of aquaculture, agriculture in dry lands, fisheries ecology, and
environmental planning and conservation.
The academies in CIBNOR's research activities support the CIBNOR Graduate
Study Program. The CIBNOR Graduate Study Program has its own facilities
auditorium, classrooms, videoconference halls, computer lab, study
workstations for students to enhance their academic activities, as well
as experimental areas and laboratories for developing their research
projects and theses. Our alumni find careers in teaching, research, or
developing technology at higher education institutions, well known
research centers, and successful private companies. The majority are
working in the public sector.
